PLACID builds Class 1 and Class 2 condenser measurement microphones in 1/2-inch and 1/4-inch sizes, so a set can be specified free-field or random-incidence, prepolarized or externally polarized, to suit environmental noise, building acoustics, sound power or ultrasonic work. Buying the capsule and preamplifier as a set means the pair is calibrated together and the sensitivity on the certificate is the sensitivity of what you actually connect to the analyser.
