The PLACID CA-01 is a handheld acoustic calibrator for field verification of sound level meters and measurement microphones. A calibrator applies a known sound pressure level to the microphone so the measurement chain can be checked immediately before and after a survey, which is what ISO 9612 and most environmental noise procedures require: a measurement whose calibration was not verified on site is difficult to defend. The CA-01 is used with PLACID measurement microphones and with third-party sound level meters of matching diameter.
